Top Ten Web 2.0 Must-See Videos that Superintendents & Other School and District Leaders Must See?
What are the Top Ten Must-See Videos that Superintendents and Other School and District Leaders Must See?
I have a presentation to do for superintendents and other school leaders. I want to show a video or two to them to educate them about web 2.0 pedagoies and to convince them to begin experiencing the world of web 2.0 themselves. So… I want to see what you think. If you can help with compiling the list, please comment below and nominate a video. Thank you.

I just used “A Brave New World Wide Web” by David Truss (http://pairadimes.davidtruss.com/a-brave-new-world-wide-web/) with a group of secondary principals. The clip shows all the ways we can be connected and learn. I think it sends a great message by challenging people to not go quietly in to their classroom (or for my group–their offices!).

Hi Paul and Helen,
Good suggestions! First time I’ve seen the news clip on using videos to teach students at home so they can use class time to learn! And the learning shot up….
So simple - so innovative.
Thanks

Here is a video by a parent about what she wants for her children:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81LPAu5TkAY
The eloquence of it is that she asks the same of parents and teachers. It is about parents and teachers coming from a place of cooperation and desire to do what’s best for kids… and is worth watching by every parent and educator.

David Warlick’s 2007 keynote at k12Online Conference http://k12online.wm.edu/davidw.mp4 sums up many of the issues around education reform. Of course Mike Wesch’s and Karl Fisch’s videos are must see.

I don’t think this one by Darren Draper has been mentioned yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEFKfXiCbLw
It would be good for school leaders. It is almost 8 minutes long but very engaging.

My premise is that school administrators need to see the wider changes in society, especially related to students and the suppression of creativity.

Having Our Say
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEftzWVgdvc
This one is newly posted on YouTube & what I like about it is it’s from the student’s perspective. Web2.0 isn’t just about 21st century skills and the world today -it’s about STUDENTS today and how they think/interact/learn. In order to empower our learners, we have to listen to them!
Thanks to David & Cindy, who nominated my video above. Interesting (and exciting) to see it included here - it’s not specifically about Web2.0, but it relates because I believe that we have to look at the human supports that teachers need in order to feel safe enough to take risks like using new technologies.
Thanks for all the great links!

Kathy, I told my readers they really had to see this video - Kansas State Prof. Michael Wesch’s very video talk about YouTube at the Library of Congress (http://mediatedcultures.net/ksudigg/?p=179). It’s long, but I couldn’t “put it down,” and I learned so much. Wrote about it here (http://www.netfamilynews.org/2008/08/watch-this-video-parents.html).

You might also check out Michael Wesch’s work on YouTube. This really applies more to higher education, but still worth thinking about
